In 2017, I was leading a software startup that introduced supervised machine learning into the oil and gas industry at a time when AI was still a new concept for many companies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">The organizations willing to explore its potential quickly discovered that AI could deliver measurable business results. Those successes inspired broader adoption and&nbsp;demonstrated&nbsp;that AI could improve performance and create a lasting competitive advantage.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">Today, generative AI and autonomous agents have transformed the conversation. The question is no longer whether AI belongs&nbsp;in&nbsp;the enterprise \u2013&nbsp;it\u2019s&nbsp;how to turn growing investment into&nbsp;measurable&nbsp;business impact.&nbsp;That\u2019s&nbsp;where many companies still struggle.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Moving&nbsp;Beyond the Pilot Stage&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cisr.mit.edu\/publication\/creating-value-enterprise-ai?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Research from MIT<\/a>&nbsp;has&nbsp;found that many enterprise AI initiatives&nbsp;fail to&nbsp;deliver meaningful results. Closing that gap requires applying AI to real operational needs \u2013 not technology alone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\">For oil and gas operators, the opportunity lies in improving production uptime, increasing field efficiency, strengthening maintenance reliability, enhancing safety, and sharpening cost discipline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\">When embedded into daily workflows, AI helps teams&nbsp;identify&nbsp;issues earlier, reduce downtime, and make faster, data-driven decisions. As capabilities continue to advance, success depends on building the processes and ownership needed to turn isolated experiments into trusted ways of working that create lasting operational value.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-9 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Playbook for&nbsp;Turning AI Into Results&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-10 wp-block-paragraph\">The companies making the most progress&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;start big. They start smart.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-11\">Begin with business champions who can build early proof and momentum.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-12\">Focus on one high-value use case and deliver results in weeks, not quarters.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-13\">Measure outcomes that matter\u2014hours saved, production protected, and risk reduced.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-14\">Build momentum within the first&nbsp;90 days.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-15\">Pair executive sponsorship with accountable business ownership.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-16 wp-block-paragraph\">Those first wins matter.
