The reason why we are in the Information Age is the value that information gains day by day. What is important in the Information Age is not the abundance of information but the correct use and management of information. What technology companies need to do is to collect and store information without losing any of it and use it in the most correct way on the way to our goal. Otherwise, the abundance of information will appear as information pollution and will start to cause more harm than good.
In the information age, which is seen as a historical transformation process, the fact that information is processed with creative efforts based on a systematic basis and accessible in the same systematic order increases its value even more. In parallel with this, businesses that attach importance to management systems are increasing day by day. In competitive conditions, such critical and advantageous issues should not be ignored. At this point, IFS ERP Applications provide auxiliary solutions to businesses and create a platform for the correct management of all information produced within businesses. In this context, the benefits of the IFS ERP Engineering Management module are as follows…
The IFS ERP Engineering Management module fully supports the new product design process from the stage where the new product idea or the idea of improvement in existing products is put forward, with processes such as design, drawing, testing, prototype and pre-production, while ensuring that engineering changes in existing products are managed interactively with all other departments within the company. It is not easy to manage the business processes of design and engineering departments, especially for businesses that do custom design and engineering and sectors that have a project-based production structure and have to build a different product in each project. The resulting product can often be a ship or similar structure with a complex structure, or a machine produced specifically for the customer. The management of the configuration and engineering data of this product is important. The IFS ERP Engineering Management module is used in an integrated manner with the production units of R&D, Product Development and Design departments of companies that carry out design and product development activities in different sectors, from businesses that do project-specific manufacturing such as shipbuilding to manufacturing businesses that do mass production.
IFS ERP Engineering Management module consists of PDM-Configuration (Product Data Management), Document Management, Change Management, Project Management and Project Product Management components. Thanks to these components, it is much easier to manage the process from the design phase of a product to its final approval as a whole, minimizing unnecessary time losses and costs.
IFS ERP PDM-Configuration
Most of the time, part changes, design changes and material list changes can be made many times during engineering studies. Sometimes, many new parts remain in the scope of engineering studies without being approved and even activated. IFS ERP PDM is a module developed for the use of engineers. Thus, engineering materials can be created without the need for a Stock Card during the new product design phase and product trees can be created using them. Opened stock cards do not mix with active stock cards, and thanks to the CAD interface, it can be worked on in integration with AutoCAD and Solidworks programs. It is possible to transfer the material information and part lists you create on these programs to the IFS ERP Engineering module in the form of a product tree.
You can view these product trees created in a tree form with the Engineering Material Explorer , and at the same time, you can easily access the details of the material (subcomponents of the material, places where it is used, revision information, related documents, characteristic features, Corrective Preventive Action Requests opened for that material, viewing the structure as multi-level) by hovering over the desired material and sub-material.
If the product you design has a complex structure consisting of thousands of images, the material lists entered on an image basis will automatically create the project product tree for the entire product. Therefore, you can create material lists using your approved images transferred to IFS ERP.
IFS ERP Document Management;
Accessing up-to-date technical drawings is a problematic issue for many businesses. Thanks to the Document Management System that works integrated with all modules of IFS ERP, it ensures that approved technical drawings, which are the output of the Design department, are stored in a central and secure environment. It provides access to the latest revisions of technical drawings when needed by authorized personnel. With the IFS ERP Engineering Management module, relevant documents can be linked to the engineering materials you create, and these documents you associate are automatically transferred to product trees and can be viewed through them.
IFS ERP Project Management: It is used to track the workload of engineers working in the engineering department and to track project-based engineering costs in businesses where many simultaneous product development, R&D and similar projects are carried out. Thanks to IFS’s advanced Project Management module, you can track budgets on an activity basis, monitor project timelines via visual Gantt Charts, and track actual costs.
IFS ERP Project Product Management: You can associate each product and sub-product in your PDM tree that you have created with the component with the activities you want to follow. You can create your work orders, which are called prototypes or samples, or if your production method is already project-based, you can manage all your work orders with this component. From here, you can manage not only your work orders but also your purchase requests and orders. Afterwards, you can see the project-based materials that enter your warehouse on the same screen and in which location they are located.
You can also track revisions on your engineering materials that you have created. With the option to replace new revisions, you can view where the old revision is used and replace it with the new revision along with the relevant documents. If the old revised material is a common product used in more than one project, it also offers you the option to replace it with the new revised material when you want it from the relevant projects.
At any stage of your project, you may need to face a change request for whatever reason. This may be a request from your customer, or it may be from your internal customer departments such as production, quality, planning, etc. You can manage these requests in a controlled manner with the Change Management component under PDM. You can associate these requests directly with your engineering materials. You can then easily view them from your product tree. At the end of your project, you can view who caused the change requests and how much cost and extra work they brought to you, and you can monitor detailed reports about them.
